Diamond cabinets were recently featured on an episode of HGTV's "Spice Up My Kitchen", the makeover show that transforms outdated, inefficient kitchens into modern masterpieces. The homeowners loved their charming Old World home with its charming architectural details, but they realized that the awkward layout of the kitchen with its limited storage space and shocking yellow walls didn't reflect the charm of the rest of the house. To say the appliances were outdated would be an understatement. The 1947 stove required pliers to operate, and the washer and dryer, which were also housed in the kitchen, were used to store items due to the lack of cabinet space.
HGTV's team of design professionals took this dated kitchen from disjointed and unattractive to fully functional and beautiful by using Diamond Cabinetry's Sumner Maple cabinets. Designer Lauren Lake used Diamond's white paint finish for most of the cabinetry and used the chocolate finish to create a focal point with the state-of-the-art island that houses a sink and dishwasher and provides an eat-in space. Chocolate-brown granite countertops, integrated stainless steel appliances and new laminate flooring completed the makeover. Thanks to the additional storage provided by the new Diamond cabinets, the washer and dryer were able to reclaim their role as laundry appliances and were relocated to a different part of the house.
